Founded by Tersius van Papendorp, Ethno Alchemy is based in the beautiful Knysna indigenous forest in Harkerville, Plettenberg Bay.
Tersius is a herbalist and has been studying natural medicine and shamanism for the past 15 years. The vision for Ethno Alchemy came about through nature, it just happened, the intention being to provide people with very high-quality natural medicines at affordable prices. This is achieved through intimate connection with the growers and community, which ensures quality and high-vibrational products and medicines.
Ethno Alchemy prioritises quality over quantity, resonating with the concept of slow food, we provide slow medicine, grown with care in small batches. We prefer locally sourced products unless we can’t grow or source it here, we love to support South Africans and our local communities.

We always strive for the best quality, some products are sustainably wild harvested such as the Turkey Tail and Bloukeur. The quality of wild-harvested products is unmatched due to the plants growing in their natural environment, ensuring that the products are organic and of high potency.
Our Sceletium is wild cultivated in the Klein Karoo and grown with spring water by a dear friend and herbalist specialising in Sceletium for the past 25 years. This particular grower makes our extract paste, which is based on a selection of the best strains of Sceletium found throughout South Africa bread into the perfect variety over 25 years, it also features epi-mesembranol which is a new alkaloid found in sceletium which is proven to be more beneficial and effective than mesembrine and mesembrenone.
